Heartsaver Courses
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED is geared towards anyone with little or no medical training who needs a course completion card for their job, regulatory (e.g., OSHA), or other requirements or anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. Heartsaver can be completed as CPR/AED only, First Aid and CPR/AED, or Pediatric First Aid and CPR/AED. This course is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. This course uses AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.
Florida Heartsaver Pediatric Classes
Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
BLS is geared towards prehospital providers, like EMTs, paramedics, fire fighters, and in-facility hospital providers. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. The BLS Instructor-led course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Provider
ACLS is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies or personnel in emergency response. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. The ACLS Instructor-led course teaches the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, early and continuous high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
ACLS for Experienced Providers (ACLS-EP)
ACLS for Experienced Providers goes beyond the core ACLS training by offering critical thinking opportunities for those advanced, experienced, healthcare professionals who use ACLS on a regular basis. The goal of ACLS EP is to improve outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other (e.g., metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies by expanding on core ACLS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making strategies. Through cooperative learning and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of prearrest, arrest and postarrest patients.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
PALS is geared towards healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. Please contact your employer to ensure that you are selecting the correct course. The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts.

Blended Heartsaver Courses
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Online is the eLearning portion of the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Blended Learning Course and is designed to teach students information needed for first aid, CPR, and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor.
Heartcode BLS Courses
HeartCode BLS uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to BLS mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance and their self- reported confidence level related to each probe. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probes, and Cognitive Assessment Activities.

Heartcode PALS uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to PALS mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance and their self- reported confidence level related to each probe. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probes, and Cognitive Assessment Activities. The student has a choice of completing a pre-hospital or in-hospital contextualized track. After completing the online portion, students will attend a structured, Instructor-led hands-on session that focuses on meaningful skills practice, debriefing, team scenarios, discussions of local protocols and skills testing.
Heartcode PALS is also available as “PALS Plus”, Pediatric advanced life support course designed for experienced pediatric healthcare providers seeking advanced educational content beyond the standard PALS Provider curriculum. For the PALS Plus, you must complete the Heartcode PALS and at least 6 additional optional modules.

As an AHA Training Center we provide Heartsaver, BLS, ACLS, and PALS Instructor courses for those looking to become instructors. Heartsaver Instructor
The Heartsaver Instructor Course is designed to prepare individuals with delivering the various Heartsaver First Aid and CPR/AED courses. Heartsaver courses are designed for general knowledge needing CPR/AED or basic first aid training but do not work in a healthcare field.
In order to become a Heartsaver Instructor, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, with First Aid certification card (card must include all components)
- Completion of the AHA Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Online course
- Attendance of the in-person Heartsaver Instructor Course
- Observation of one class being taught and monitored teaching at a second class
In addition, Heartsaver Instructors must have all manuals, videos, and other equipment required by AHA for delivery of Heartsaver courses.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor
The Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course is designed to prepare individuals to deliver the AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) to healthcare providers such as nurses, EMTs, and other healthcare providers or workers in a healthcare environment. The BLS Provider class teaches one and two-person CPR/AED skills for adults, children, and infants with various barrier devices. BLS Instructor Candidates do not have to have a medical background.
In order to become a BLS Instructor, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification card (card must include all components)
- Completion of the AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online course
- Attendance of the in-person BLS Instructor Course
- Observation of one class being taught and monitored teaching at a second class
In addition, BLS Instructors must have all manuals, videos, and other equipment required by AHA for delivery of BLS courses. BLS Instructors can also teach Heartsaver First Aid and CPR/AED programs, provided they have the required material for the Heartsaver courses.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor
The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor Course is designed to prepare individuals to teach the vital skills of managing cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiovascular emergencies. The ACLS Instructor Course equips candidates with the knowledge to manage an ACLS training program and teach others the skills of ACLS.
In order to become an ACLS Instructor, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS and BLS Provider card
