CPR Pensacola/CPR Mississippi is proud to be your source for BLS, ACLS, and PALS courses throughout the Southeast.  With locations in Pensacola, Panama City, and Lakeland FL; and Biloxi and Meridian, MS we are sure to have an offering near you.  Visit our Registration or Calendar links above for more information and our class schedule!

We get many inquiries from our students about which CPR class they need to take.  There are a few questions that can help determine which class is the one for you.  Please read the descriptions and information on each course, and be able to make the decision for yourself!

1.  Do you prefer a traditional classroom format or are you more interested in a blended learning option?  For those that prefer working more at their own pace and coming in for a shorter skills practice and evaluation session, then find the Skills Session on our course listing for the certification you need (i.e. BLS Skills, ACLS Skills, PALS Skills, or Blended Heartsaver course.)  If you prefer the more traditional classroom setting, then simply look for the certification by type (i.e. Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, etc.)

2.  Do you currently work in or do you plan to work in a Healthcare setting?  These positions almost always require the Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.  You can complete this in either a blended-learning or traditional classroom format.

3.  Are you working in childcare, construction, maritime, or similar fields?  These fields typically require the Heartsaver course.  Depending on your specific requirements, you may need First Aid and CPR/AED, or just CPR/AED.  Check with your supervisor or licensing prior to registration to ensure you complete the correct course.

4.  Do I need to take a full class or can I attend the update/renewal course?  In order to attend as an update/renewal student, you must have a CURRENT, unexpired AHA provider card (not Red Cross, MTN, ASHI, etc.).  If you have expired by even a single day or do not have an AHA card, you are not eligible for the update/renewal course (compare this to your professional license, once it has passed its date.)

Now that you've finished your course with us, you may have questions about claiming your eCard.  While we cover this process and give each student the "Claiming Your eCard" flyer, many of our students forget the information or lose the flyer.  The steps to claim your eCard are relatively simple, and you only need your name and email address to complete the process.

1. From your internet browser, visit www.heart.org/cpr/mycards.

2. From the student tab, enter your first name, last name, and email address you provided us when you signed in (your information must match how you signed in the day of class.)

3. Create a security question, answer a couple survey questions, and voila, you have your eCard available.

4.  Once the page opens with your eCard (which gives you the option to save/print as either a full page certificate or as the traditional wallet-size card), you also have the ability to send an email link to anyone needing proof of your eCard directly from the eCard website.

Please make sure to save the email you receive from the AHA eCard system for future reference, you can access your eCard at any point during the two years the eCard is valid.

Are you interested in becoming an instructor?  As an AHA Training Center for BLS, ACLS and PALS we hold open enrollment instructor classes in February, June, and October each year for those looking to become an AHA Instructor. There are several considerations prior to making the commitment to attend an instructor course.

  1. Prior to registering for the instructor course(s), you must be preapproved by our Training Center.  You can begin the approval process by completing the Instructor Interest Form below.
  2. There are several prerequisites prior to registering for and attending the instructor course.  All instructor candidates must be at least 18 years old.  An instructor candidate must hold current AHA Provider certification for the discipline they are seeking instructor status for.  For those would would like to instruct ACLS or PALS classes, you must hold a healthcare professional certification (RN, Paramedic, RT, MD, DO, etc.)  Other healthcare titles and occupations can be approved on a case-by-case basis after discussion with our Training Center Coordinator and Senior Training Center Faculty.
  3. There is a significant financial investment in becoming an instructor.  In addition to the fees for the instructor course, there are required course materials and equipment investments before offering your first course.
  4. ACLS and PALS instructors must also hold BLS Instructor certification, or be willing to obtain BLS Instructor certification aligned with our Training Center prior to becoming an ACLS or PALS instructor.
  5. Our Training Center is Nationwide for BLS/ACLS/PALS (TC ID FL20945) and have instructors located in numerous states; however, most of our Instructor Courses are held at our corporate office in Pensacola, FL.
  6. Once you have completed the respective Instructor Course(s), instructor candidates must be successfully monitored by our Training Center Faculty prior to receiving their final Instructor Certification and serving as an actual instructor.

Please complete the interest form below for more information on the process and requirements for an instructor certification.
